Imogen

imogen8

Pattern: Imogen Sweater, available as a kit from Perl Grey.
Yarn: Fleece Artist Aran Alpaca, 2.5 skeins

imogen5

This is the first sweater that I have knit for myself in years. Literally! Two years! (My last one was in October of 2005, and I never wear it). So forgive me if I went overboard a little on the pictures. A finished sweater is a very rare occurence around here and must be celebrated. (as always, click for bigger).

Thank you, wonderful friends, for putting up with me, and for indulging my habit of plastering this blog with pictures of myself in knitwear, and for letting me dream that I could someday be America's Next Top Model. Ha! Just Kidding! (No but seriously, if I do win, I'll say something about you, I promise. Something about how I never could have made it this far if I hadn't had your encouragment back when I was just modeling my own work, and then I'll get all choked up and teary, and have to call my boyfriend and tell him no one one the show likes me. Then we'll all go do shots in the pool).

Seriously, I so appreciate your coming here to read and comment. I've had so many great comments lately and I haven't had time to give them all the response they deserve. I can't wait to see so many of you this weekend at Rhinebeck, and if you can't make it, I'll be thinking of you and missing you. Whatever you're doing, have a wonderful weekend!

You not only made a gorgeous sweater but also look fabulous modeling it. The sweater knitting I might be able to do, but if I tried that modeling schtick, I'd look just plain silly. Thanks for the entertainment along with the inspiration!

The trees are splendid-hued, it's true,
Against the clear October blue,
But Imogen just tops the story,
And wraps you in autumnal glory.

You look gorgeous, darling. What a fabulous sweater. I have always longed for that kit, but I don't think that aran weight alpaca is going to get much use down here in Texas where it's still in the high 80s!!!

And those are definitely your colors. WOW!

Okay, I'll admit it: I audibly gasped when I saw the sweater. It's unbelievable. Truly stunning.

And for the record, you could easily model for Interweave. Wouldn't that be fun? I'm pretty sure the makeup would be minimal and there's a virtual guarantee that you wouldn't be asked to wear a thong. We'll just have to get rid of Pam Allen's daughter to make room for you. Don't forget - you have a connection to the mafia, so you know ... just let me know if I can be helpful. ;-)

Can't wait to see you and this AMAZING sweater!

That sweater is fabulous, and so soft! I didn't get to ask you anything about it on Saturday, but I'm glad to see all of the info here. I hope it gets a lot more wear than the last sweater you knit yourself!

I love that you're wearing it open. I wasn't very interested in the pattern because I felt the front closure was too bulky, but it looks terrific worn open!

Also, ANTM is my guilty pleasure! I never miss it.

Quick question, did you use a provisional cast on?
Thanks.

Fabulous sweater!! Did you make it longer than in the pattern? Or does it just look longer on you in your photo as compared to the Imogen's photo version.

I like the length of your sweater which is why I'm asking. It's just incredible and now I have to make one (GG). So, what's with the length difference?

Thanks, Kim. www.soulknitting.blogspot.com

I love it! It's nice to see it somewhere else other than the perl grey website, to see how it knits up for someone else! I like the length. and the colour is ridiculously lovely!

Hi Cheryl! It was really nice to see you again at Rhinebeck, especially after SOAR! I just love your February Lady Sweater. Man, attending SOAR and getting ready for, and setting up at Rhinebeck were two seriously intensive fiber weeks for me! (and fun. It was very, very fun!) Phew! Great new sweater. You look great in it and you look fantastic in your pictures. Since I'm a woman who generally looks awful in pictures, I'm very, very jealous LOL! I think you're just going to have to make yourself more sweaters!
