Shetland Triangle

Pattern: Shetland Triangle, by Evelyn A Clark, from Wrap Style.

Yarn: Merino/Tencel single, handspun by me.

This was my first shawl. I never felt the call of the shawl. They don't really fit into my wardrobe, and I never really saw much use for them. How wrong I was! I want to knit nothing but shawls. What a pleasure to knit. And the blocking! Oh, the blocking. I'd heard tales of how wonderful it would be, but nothing really prepared me for the magical experience of blocking a lace shawl. I felt like a superhero.

I knit this with a single, and I had some worries about the twist, but it was just fine. After I skeined the single I soaked it and then weighted it (horrors!) while it dried to make it easier to knit with. And it was an excellent use of a single; I can see myself spinning more singles now and using them for lace.

Absolutely gorgeous! I was bitten by the lace bug long ago, but seeing this makes me want to run and pick up my needles or jump on my spinning wheel. Too bad I can't do both at once!

oh cheryl! now THAT is just so pretty! such a great color on you (is that you?). i am addicted to making shawls too. even though i am SO not a scarfy, shawl-y type, i use them all the time at home in the wionter (i'm always cold). even a very light weight shawl is quite warm becasue it traps airs between the holes! and, it makes you feel so special to have it on! congratulations and welcome to the club!

Okay Goddess, first there is a spectacular matching photo shoot (sea and sky with shawl). Then there is the beautiful job with the lace. And THEN it has to be handspun. AND THEN it's a single. I'm SO out of my league here.

It looks lovely on you, and of course you realize that it *does* fit into your wardrobe, right? Because it does.

I'm commenting a year later but I just had to, I was directed here from another blog. It is absolutely gorgeous. Yes, the magic of a shawl has gotten to me too. I felt much the same before my first one and now I have to have one on the needles at all times. Yours is amazing.
